Candle & home fragrance packaging · MOQ 100 pcs on rigid structures
A candle pack is a weight problem before it is a design problem. A rigid lid & base box runs $1.20 – 1.80 per piece at 500 pcs, a magnetic gift box runs $1.50 – 2.30, and the shipper that actually protects the glass runs $0.30 – 0.68 at 1,000 pcs. Most programmes need both, and they should be specified together.

Range
Almost every candle programme ends up with two boxes: the one the candle is sold in, and the one it travels in. They are quoted separately because they solve different problems, and buying them as a pair at the start is usually cheaper than adding the shipper later once breakage numbers are in.

Two rigid pieces — a base tray and a lid that sits over it with a friction fit.

Two rigid boards with magnets set into the lid and the base, wrapped edge to edge so the closure disappears and the whole surface stays available for your artwork.

A rigid lid-and-base box in recycled kraft board, closed with a paper ribbon instead of a magnet, a foil patch or a plastic band.

An unbleached kraft folding box with no film, no laminate and nothing on it that has to be separated before the box can be recycled.

A clamshell folding box with a cord handle threaded through the lid and a recessed inner panel that stays readable when the box is open.

A self-locking or tear-strip corrugated box, printed inside and out, supplied flat and sized to what you actually ship.

A regular slotted container in single or double wall, right-sized to your product and your pallet rather than to a stock carton list.
What this industry actually needs
A candle is a heavy, fragile, slow-moving object with a smell. Those four properties decide the pack far more than the artwork does, and they are the reason candle packaging is quoted differently from the same-sized gift box.
A single 200 g candle in glass behaves like a much larger package. The board has to hold the mass, and the tray has to stop it moving, so a candle box is usually specified one grade up from a gift box of the same footprint. Send the filled weight — not the wax weight, the filled weight — and the jar diameter, and the structure follows from that.
The box that earns its place on a shelf is rarely the box that survives a parcel network. Split them: a rigid or folding retail box at $0.38–2.30 per piece, and a corrugated mailer or RSC shipper at $0.30–0.68 at 1,000 pcs. Buying both at the same time is normal, and it is cheaper than discovering you need a shipper after the first damaged order.
Candles sit in their boxes longer than most products, and they carry fragrance. Both facts are worth raising before the die is cut rather than afterwards: how long will this pack be stored, will it be stacked, and is there any oil on the outside of the vessel. We would rather test it on your sample than assert it in a quote.
| How the jar is held | Indicative | When it is the right answer |
|---|---|---|
| Die-cut board collar | Included in the box price | The cheapest way to stop a jar sliding. Works when the jar is short and wide. |
| Moulded pulp or foam cradle | Quoted as its own line | Priced by cavity count. The usual answer for tall or heavy jars and for multi-jar sets. |
| Divider grid | Quoted as its own line | For two-, three- and four-jar sets. Assembly is by hand, so labour scales with the count. |
| Moulded pulp shipper insert | Quoted as its own line | Sits inside the outer shipper rather than the retail box. Specify it with the shipper, not afterwards. |
