An arch, and thirty drawers

A rigid cabinet whose top is a smooth arch rather than a lid, over a block of thirty drawers. The crescent and star sit in foil on the arched panel above the array; the base band is left clear for your own mark.

Overview

About this ramadan calendar box — arch design

Ramadan runs twenty-nine or thirty days, depending on when the new moon is sighted that year. That single fact decides the drawer count. A twenty-nine drawer array is short in a thirty-day year and there is nothing you can do about it on the shelf; a thirty-drawer array is correct in both, with the last drawer simply left closed or filled in a twenty-nine-day year. If you are buying once and selling for several seasons, thirty is the count to build.

The arch is the other half of the decision. A curved top does two things at once: it gives the product a silhouette that is legible from across a room, and it stops the cabinet reading as a generic drawer unit. What it costs you is board. An arch is cut from a rectangular sheet, so the corners outside the curve are waste, and the wrap has to follow a curve rather than fold flat. Both are real costs, and both are why this version sits above the rectangular one rather than beside it.

The crescent, the star and the arch outline are foil linework, not print. Linework at this weight is priced by stamped area, so a fine outline motif costs a fraction of a filled shape and reads more expensive than it is. Send the motif and we will tell you which weights survive at the die you have.

A drawer array is quoted as a structure, not off a price list. The count, the cavity size, the board grade, the wrap, the foil coverage and the pulls all move the unit price, and they move it in different directions — more drawers means more board and far more hand assembly, a smaller cavity means the same board doing less work. Fix the structure first and the number that comes back is one you can hold us to.

  • ✓Thirty drawers — correct in a twenty-nine day year and a thirty-day year alike, so one build covers every season
  • ✓Arched top as a shaped wrap, giving a silhouette that reads from across a retail floor rather than only from the shelf edge
  • ✓Crescent, star and arch outline as fine gold foil linework — priced by stamped area, so outline motifs cost less than a filled shape
  • ✓Base band left clear for your own mark, in the same foil as the motif above it
  • ✓Planning note: the month moves roughly eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, so the order window moves with it

Variants

Configurations we build most often

Arch profile

A smooth semicircular head, or a flatter ogee that keeps more usable height inside the cabinet. The ogee is the one to choose if you want a compartment behind the arch rather than a solid panel.

Numbering

Numbered 1–30 by hot foil, or left unmarked for the buyer to fill. Unmarked suits a gift that is assembled centrally and distributed, because nothing on the product can contradict the local calendar.

Motif weight

Fine outline linework reads most expensive and costs least. A heavier or filled motif raises the stamped area and the die price with it, without raising the perceived value by as much.

Base band

Left clear for your foil mark, printed with a message, or used as a pull-out drawer. The clear version photographs best because the brand sits alone on it.

Materials

Materials and board

OptionWhat it means
Shaped wrapThe wrap follows the arch, so it is cut to a shaped blank rather than folded from a rectangle. This is the line that changes most when the arch profile changes.
Arch boardA curved head carries less stiffness than a flat lid of the same board, which is why the arch usually steps up a grade. Substituting the flat-lid grade is the fastest way to a warped head.
FoilFine linework, so the die is doing detail rather than coverage. Gold reads as the default for this season; silver and rose gold are the same line at the same area.
Drawer linersPaper or velvet-effect, per drawer. Quietly the most effective line on the invoice for a box that is meant to be opened slowly.

Best for

Where this format earns its keep

Premium retail and department stores

A silhouette that holds a branded display position. The arch is the reason this version wins the table where a rectangular unit would not.

Fragrance and attar sets

Thirty small vessels, one per drawer, with the arch carrying the brand above them. The format that makes a set of minis look like a collection.

Dates and sweets, premium tier

A filled drawer needs the insert and the board to take weight. Here the count is fixed at thirty and the cavity size is the variable that matters.

Community and mosque gifting

A format that reads as a gift rather than a distribution pack, at a quantity that still comes off a single production run.

Sizing

Sizes and how we set them

DimensionGuidance
Overall heightThe stated height includes the arch rise, not just the body. Two cabinets with the same body and different arches are different products on a shelf.
Arch riseSet with the width. A rise above roughly a quarter of the width reads as a dome; below that it reads as a rounded corner.
Drawer cavitySized off the largest item plus liner. In a thirty-drawer block the cavity is the main lever on the overall footprint, because the count is already fixed.
Overall footprintSix drawers across is the practical limit before the cabinet stops sitting square on a shelf without a thicker board.

FAQ

Questions before a Ramadan run is cut

The count is fixed by the calendar; the arch and the motif are your levers.

Why thirty drawers and not twenty-nine?
Because Ramadan is twenty-nine or thirty days depending on the sighting that year. Twenty-nine is short in a thirty-day year and there is no fix once it is built. Thirty works in both, with one drawer left unused when the month is short.
Is the arch only decorative?
It is a silhouette decision, and silhouettes sell. What it costs is board and a shaped wrap, which is real money. If the cabinet is going straight into a mailer rather than onto a shelf, the rectangular version does the same job for less.
Can we put Arabic script in the foil motif?
We can, and it needs to be drawn as outlined paths rather than set as live text. Send the letterforms as artwork and we will check that the strokes hold at the die size — a thin stroke that looks right on screen can break in the stamp.
When do we need to order?
The month moves roughly eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, so the window is not a fixed date. Work back from the shelf date: sea freight is a thirty to forty day planning figure, production is twelve to eighteen days from approval, and approval needs a sample in your hands first.
What decides the price?
The arch profile and the board grade it needs, whether the wrap is printed, the foil area of the motif and the drawer cavity. Send the motif and the item going in the drawer and you get an itemised price with a 3D mockup.

Ramadan Calendar Drawer Box — Lantern DesignVolume

Ramadan Calendar Drawer Box — Lantern Design

A rectangular Ramadan countdown cabinet with thirty drawers and a gold lantern frieze across the top band. Rectilinear means the board sheet is used almost entirely, the cartons nest properly and the unit ships without a shaped void filler. It is the version to build when the run is large, the channel is retail or marketplace, and the packing maths matters as much as the look.

Advent Calendar Drawer BoxDecember

Advent Calendar Drawer Box

A rigid advent case with a grid of 24 drawers, each front numbered in foil or print. Pulls in ribbon, die-cut finger hole or a metal ring; the shell takes the same wrapping and finishing as any of our rigid boxes, so a festive pattern, a deboss or a single foiled mark all apply. What decides the price is the grid: how many drawers, how big each cavity is, and how much hand assembly that adds.

Advent Calendar Cabinet with DoorsTwo-stage reveal

Advent Calendar Cabinet with Doors

A rigid cabinet with two doors closing over a 24-drawer block. Closed, it photographs and shelves as one box; the drawer array is the reveal. Quiet magnet or ribbon-tied closure, printed door interiors, and a base compartment if the block does not fill the body. The doors add a panel and a hinge allowance, and both show up in the price.
