Overview
Spring artwork behaves differently from Christmas artwork, and the palette is the reason. Soft mint, blush, butter yellow and pale lilac read well on natural canvas because the cloth shows through the ink, which is why most Easter ranges are printed on undyed 10oz rather than on a dyed body. The motifs that hold up in a repeat are botanical — daffodil, tulip, blossom branch, speckled egg — and they print more cleanly as line work with two or three flat colours than as a detailed photographic illustration. Where the range needs to feel like an occasion rather than a promotion, a single foil or embroidered motif on a plain body usually beats a busy repeat.
Two practical differences from a December order are worth planning around. First, Easter moves on the calendar every year, so we plan from the month you need the goods on the shelf rather than from a date — if your retail month is March, artwork should be approved by November for sea freight. Second, spring is the season when egg-hunt and family-event bags sell alongside gift-with-purchase offers, which means two sizes off one artwork: a small till bag and a larger carried bag. Both can be cut on the same tooling, and both are decorated with the same screens, so the second size costs fabric and sewing rather than a second set-up.
